The measurement of the thermal conductivity of different materials, which is a rather tricky measurement, has been the subject of different developments of the group, and currently we have different ways of measuring it for bulk, thin film and nanostructures.

LFA 1000 High performance Laser Flash measurements (from -125ºC to 500ºC)

The Linseis LFA 1000 Laser Flash is the most modular and precise instrument for the determination of Thermal Diffusivity, Conductivity and Specific Heat. The Flash Method determines the thermal diffusivity. Using a suited reference material, it is also possible to measure the specific heat capacity in a comparative method. The thermal diffusivity, specific heat capacity and the density can then be used to calculate the thermal conductivity. The norms count for the Flash Method:

Photoacoustic technique

This technique is able to measure thermal conductivity at room temperature of bulk, thin or thick films and porous structures.
