Cristina Torres

Dr. Cristina Torres graduated in Biology at the University of the Balearic Islands (2017) and in Neuroscience (MSc) at the Complutense University of Madrid (2018). She conducted her PhD in Biomedical Research with a competitive contract/grant FPU, under the supervision of Prof. MA Moro and Ignacio Lizasoain, in the UIN group & Neurovascular Pathophysiology Group, at the UCM and at the National Center for Cardiovascular Research (CNIC). Her doctoral research was based on the study of molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying post-stroke cognitive impairment, focused on hippocampal population cells and neurometabolites. During this period she got competitive finding (Early Career Researcher Grants through Leducq Foundation, 10.000€; Complementary mobility grant for beneficiaries of the FPU –University Teacher Training Program-, funding 5800€), presented her work at different national and international conferences, joined in several divulgation activities and participated in relevant and important networks (RICORS-ICTUS, the international Stroke-IMPaCT) and projects (STEMENTIA, PID2022-140616OB-I00, AhR SAF2015-68632-R) on the field. As part of her PhD, she also joined Prof. Buckwalter’s group in Stanford University (California, USA) for an international stay of 3 months during 2021, through that mentioned competitive national fellowship.

In November 2023, she joined the FINDER Group as a “Research & Proyect Manager”. Part of her most relevant functions are described: management of national and European projects -preparation and presentation, scientific-technical & economic justifications-; review of associated documents (Data Management Plan, Grant Agreement, Scientific-Technical Report); management and monitoring of budgets; management of the networks and institutional email of the FINDER group (group’s own website, LinkedIn, Twitter, MCYT -Madrid Science and Technology-); support in dissemination, organization of congresses, meetings, and scientific activities; patent search and industrial property transfer; assisting the lab in personnel hiring in coordination with the HR department.
